Daoist Inspired Self-Care for Women

With Tahnee Taylor

Let's Explore Together

We need to take care of our physical bodies so that our bodies can take care of us! I see our bodies as vehicles of embodied spirit, palaces of pleasure and conduits for spiritual evolution. Magical alchemical portals that we, as women, are so fortunate to be born into.

I love delving deep into the ancient healing traditions of Yoga, Daoism, and somatic exploration. Integrated systems that support longevity and self-healing are my jam, especially ones that stand the test of time.

In this e-hamper of goodies you will find some of my fave conversations, articles, herbs and rituals that Nourish The Feminine. If ever there was a time to lean in to the gifts of our feminine form, it is now. The world needs compassion, care, and gentle grace. As well as the fierce priestess energy of the empowered woman.

I've recorded exclusive video content with demonstrations of the Daoist Breast Massage and Ovarian Breathing techniques I discuss in my podcast Nourishing Her YinThere is also a very special discount on our most treasured female herbs of the Daoist tradition.

I invite you to use this page as a resource.  Return to it as often as you like when you need some inspiration to slow down and go inwards.

I hope you enjoy!

My Favorite Self-Care Practices

I was so, so lucky to stumble upon Daoist healing practices via my acupuncturist who suggested I may enjoy Mantak Chia's work...fast forward a couple of years and I found myself in Thailand studying with the Master himself. I have found the Daoist work empowering and healing, and it has awakened in me a sense of wholeness and connection to my femininity and the gifts of life in a female body. To have the tools for self-healing should be every woman's right and I am happy to offer these free introductory resources to you to support your wellbeing and personal journey.

Ovarian Breathing is a Daoist practice designed to connect us to and activate the power of the ovaries. This power is available to us at all times, not just for creating babies but for creating our own lives.

Breast Massage is a simple healing practice that I like before or after bathing. Do this one daily.

The meditations I offer (Yin and Yang of the Ovaries and Female Sexual Organs) are designed to connect you to the energy of the female reproductive system.  I feel that by learning to connect with gratitude and wonder to our sexual organs we can change this paradigm and create a new world for all women.

This leads us to the final video, Women's Cycles, which is a discussion around feminine cyclical nature. Like the Earth, we are tied to certain rhythms that inform our health, development and evolution.

I hope these videos inspire and delight you. Please note that even if you do not have a womb or ovaries, you can still connect to the energy of these organs in your body. The body exists in the astral realms and even after surgeries, we can still utilize the power of our organs for our own health and healing.

Our Favorite Women's Health Podcasts

The Women's Series on SuperFeast's podcast has been one of the most profound undertakings I've been fortunate enough to experience.

Not only for my own education, but in being humbled by the majesty of the female body and having the privilege of speaking to women who have devoted their lives to helping their sisters heal.

Some of my favourite episodes are below - the one that brought me to tears (Jane Hardwicke Collings), the one you guys loved the most (Dr Carrie Jones; I also learned about an epic new lipstick from her!!) and the one that lit a fire in my belly that no woman should experience period pain, ever (Lara Briden).

These are just some of the pods that have stimulated and moved me, and hopefully you'll be inspired to dive into the whole series.

Nourishing Her Yin

I recorded this with Mase at the live launch of Women's Blend.  It's raw, and I share things I never thought I would talk about publicly (overshare hangover much?)! We cover my Daoist and Yogic studies as well as my own health journey.

The oversharing seems to have been worth it - I've received so much positive feedback from women expressing their thanks that I can't leave this one out of the Top 4! Have a listen and let me know what YOU think.

Listen

Period Repair

Dr. Lara Briden has dedicated her life to treating and educating women on damaging misconceptions about period health.

We explore common symptoms experienced by menstruating women and cover bleeding, ovulation, and the Pill.  We also talk about teenage girls. I love how Lara is passionate about helping women understand and repair their relationship with menstruation.

Listen

All The Hormones

Dr. Carrie Jones’ expertise lies in the areas of hormonal, adrenal, and thyroid health - and the complexities of how these interact in women's bodies. She recognizes that imbalance can occur at any age and advocates for appropriate testing.

Dr Jones is an ambassador of the DUTCH Test, which is a super-cool diagnostic that may interest you if you suffer hormonal imbalances. She is passionate and funny, and I love her (AND she rocks a mean red lippy!!)

Listen

Maiden, Mother, CRONE

Jane Hardwicke Collings weaves a beautiful narrative for the cyclic nature of womanhood - each phase providing a 'Rite of Passage' that our culture is so incredibly awful at honoring.

With particular emphasis on the magic of menopause and its physical AND cultural significance, this one is a must! I found myself in tears at one point listening to Jane - she just spoke straight to my heart. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.

Health is obviously a passion of ours at SuperFeast!

We love to share what we've learned through our studies and our experience in helping women (and men!) over the last ten years discover their own health sovereignty. In Daoism, health comes from living in alignment with the flow of life, and we think Nature provides the best education and the best medicine.

The articles below are some of our favorites that touch on important topics like personal practice, stress management, and personal care.

My Favorite Women's Health Herbs

Some of my favorite herbs for women's health exist within the Daoist healing tradition. In particular, he Shou wu and reishi are huge allies for me and were a crucial part of my healing nearly a decade ago.

Our Women's Blend includes he Shou wu but also beautiful, nourishing women's herbs like dang gui, known as 'women's ginseng,' a herb that nourishes Blood and is useful for menstrual problems.

In Daoist healing, women are governed by Blood and need to pay special attention to their cycle, as well as the Spleen, Liver and Kidney organs (responsible for the nutritive quality, distribution and cleansing, and moisture content of the blood respectively).

We have also included herbs that nourish the Liver (dang gui, goji, rehmannia), and Kidneys (rehmannia). If you have general menstrual issues, this blend is amazing. Take it daily for a healthy cycle. If you have a heavy bleed, you can skip it during the first couple of days of your cycle.

If your challenges are more specific, never underestimate how important a relationship with an experienced mentor (general practitioner, naturopath, herbalist, acupuncturist, etc) is. Support and care during times of stress and dis-ease are an integral part of healing. Humans are social animals and being witnessed in our healing journey is so, so powerful. We see you, and we honor your journey. We hope these herbs support your transition and personal evolution.

Thank You!

For coming on this journey with me. For being a woman who is inspired and committed to healing herself, in order that she can hold space for others.

Who believes in Nature as our first healer, teacher, and mother.

I hope you find this work supportive and you share it with those who would benefit from these teachings. To my teachers, thank you, for showing me the way. I am eternally grateful. Any mistakes or errors in transmission are my own and I highly recommend studying with Master Mantak Chia or one of his Healing Tao teachers if you wish to go deeper with this work.
